11 min read · Updated July 2026
If you are searching for a UENI alternative, or comparing Hands Free Sites and UENI head to head, you have already made the important decision: you want someone else to build your website. Good call. Both companies do that. They just do it very differently, and the differences show up in your first invoice, your first edit request, and the day you decide to leave.
This is our comparison, so you know our bias up front. We run Hands Free Sites. We will state UENI's numbers from their own site, tell you honestly where UENI is the better pick, and let you decide. Every UENI fact below is as of July 2026, per ueni.com, and competitor pricing changes, so check their site for today's numbers.
The short version
Both are genuinely done-for-you. Neither hands you a blank template and wishes you luck.
Pick UENI if you want a human team, including designers and copywriters, building your site, you are comfortable with a setup fee plus a monthly subscription, and you like the idea of add-on marketing services from the same vendor as you grow.
Pick Hands Free Sites if you want to see the finished site before you pay anything, you want ongoing edits by simply asking instead of a 30-day edit window, you want the lowest predictable monthly cost, and you want it in writing that you can download your files and leave anytime.
The one-sentence difference: UENI sells a human-built website with a setup fee and tiered subscriptions. Hands Free Sites builds your site free, shows you the finished thing live, and charges about $12 a month, typically, only if you keep it.

UENI pricing vs Hands Free Sites pricing
Numbers first, then what they mean.
What UENI charges
As of July 2026, per ueni.com/en-us/pricing/, UENI lists four plans, each with a setup fee shown as $599 reduced to $79 at the time of writing:
- Website Launch: $24.99/mo monthly, or $20.83/mo billed annually. Includes the custom-built site, domain, SSL, hosting, one professional email, and unlimited done-for-you edits for the first 30 days.
- Plus: $59/mo monthly, or $49.17/mo billed annually. Adds unlimited done-for-you edits ongoing, 4 email addresses, and promotion features. Marked as their most popular plan.
- Ecommerce: $99/mo monthly, or $82.50/mo billed annually. Adds the online store with 0% transaction fees.
- Growth: $124.99/mo monthly, or $104.16/mo billed annually. Adds a dedicated marketing team and monthly 1-on-1 sessions.
That is a coherent, honestly published model. The setup fee pays for real human labor, and the tiers map to how much ongoing service you want.
What Hands Free Sites charges
Three sentences cover it:
- The build is free. We build the entire site and put it live so you can click through every page before spending anything.
- Keeping it live costs about $12 a month, typically. The exact figure runs $10 to $12, and every line of it is itemized on your invoice.
- There is no required one-time fee. The optional Branded upgrade is $99 one time: your own domain connected, our badge removed, Google indexability, and free email at your name. Plenty of customers run on the base plan first.
First-year math
Using each company's own published monthly-billing numbers, a first year on UENI's base plan is the setup fee plus $24.99 x 12, roughly $379 at the discounted setup fee shown in July 2026. A first year on Hands Free Sites at $12/mo is $144, or $243 if you add the optional $99 Branded upgrade. If you want ongoing human edits at UENI, the Plus plan puts the first year at roughly $787 on monthly billing. Re-run this math with current prices before you decide; both companies can change theirs.
What UENI does well
Honesty section, because a comparison that pretends the other company has no reasons to exist is not a comparison.
- Real humans build the site. UENI's homepage says designers, copywriters, and SEO specialists build, write, and optimize your site. If having people rather than AI do the initial build matters to you, that is a real difference, and it is UENI's advantage.
- Scale and track record. UENI states it has built 700,000+ websites. That is a lot of small businesses served, and it means their build process has seen your industry before.
- Everything-included plan structure. Domain and email are bundled into the plans rather than being an upgrade, which some owners will prefer to our free-base-plus-optional-upgrade model.
- A marketing services ladder. If you expect to want done-for-you Google and social promotion, or a dedicated growth team later, UENI sells those under the same roof. We do not sell marketing services.
- Unlimited human edits on Plus and above. If you want a person handling every change forever and are happy paying $59/mo for it, that plan exists and does what it says.
Where Hands Free Sites is different
- You see the finished site before any money moves. Not a mockup or a design preview. The actual working site, live, every page clickable on your phone. UENI's protection is a 30-day refund after purchase; ours is that you simply do not pay for a site you have not seen.
- Edits by asking, for the life of the site. You type "change my Tuesday hours to 10 to 6" into your dashboard and the site changes. No 30-day window, no ticket queue, no plan upgrade required to keep the service being a service.
- Speed. About 5 minutes from describing your business to a live site, versus UENI's published 7 days. Neither is slow by agency standards. One lets you decide today.
- Ownership, in writing. Every plan includes full file download. Your site is standard web files that run on any host. Buy a domain through us and the WHOIS shows your name, transferable in one click. We could not find an equivalent published file-export commitment from UENI, and their help center describes the site going offline at cancellation. If ownership matters to you, ask any service this question before signing anything.
- Cost transparency. Our monthly fee runs $10 to $12 typical, itemized on your invoice, and the only one-time fee that exists is optional. No setup fee, discounted or otherwise.
Who should pick which
Pick UENI if:
- You specifically want humans, not AI, building the initial site
- You want domain, email, and site bundled in one subscription from day one
- You plan to buy marketing services from your website vendor as you grow
- A setup fee plus $25 to $59 a month fits your budget comfortably
- You want to judge the actual finished site before paying anything at all
- You want changes handled by asking, indefinitely, without a plan upgrade
- You want the lowest ongoing cost with no required one-time fee
- You want file ownership and a written right to leave with everything
- You would rather have your site live in minutes than days
